Description:

The Problem: You have an application that uses MS Word or PDF Automation. The WINWORD.EXE (or AcroRd32.exe) process fails to shut down. When previewing the running processes in the Task Manager you see one or more runaway WINWORD.EXE (or AcroRd32.exe) processes that are eating up memory and causing you application to fail.

The Solution: This Windows Services searches for WINWORD.EXE processes that have been idle and kills them, freeing up memory and helping your application get back on track. You can configure the interval that the service will search for processed to kill and the Maximum amount of time the process is allowed to run (Example: Check for WINWORD.EXE processes every 10 mins and kill them if they have been alive longer than 20 mins.)

This service works for any process, not just WINWORD.EXE and AcroRd32.exe. For example you can use it to kill orphan excel.exe processes.
